See the Captains thoughts and results from Sunday July 6th
Division Two

Division Four

Division Five

Division Six

Division Seven North
Div7 North travelled out to Joondalup CC to take on Wanneroo1. We secured a 4.5 to 2.5 win with solid performances from Rob (4&3), Lam (3&1), Colin (2&1), Reyne (1up) and Steve (SQ). Nick (2dn) and Tim (3&2) battled hard all day but just couldn’t get infront. This was a great win in very wet, windy conditions and taking on the second place Wanneroo team.

Division Seven South
Div 7 South defeated Rockingham 4 to 3 at home in round 5. All players had to give many shots, and despite the wet and windy conditions, all stayed together and supported each other on the course till the end of the round. Well done team!

Division Eight
The Div 8 men’s team traveled to The Vines Golf Club and Resort for an important match up against Mosman Park GC. With us sitting second on the ladder equal on points but behind The Vines by half a game on countback, and with Mossy 1 point behind us in third place, this was a must win, as we assumed The Vines would win on their home turf.
Callum Hall went out first for us and seemed a bit concerned about the 7 shots he had to give his younger, taller and possibly more athletic opponent. However once his opponent who had honors off the tee hit his first shot, I’m pretty sure Cal would have been giggling inside and probably thinking that it wouldn’t matter if he 14 shots. Not surprisingly, Cal got the job done with a comfortable 3&2 victory.
Next up was the undefeated Cam Page who continued his run of fine matchplay golf to convincingly put away his opponent with a 4&3 win. After the openers got us off to a great start, we suffered a middle order batting collapse starting with an embarrassing display from the Captain going down 3&2 (I’m that disgusted in my performance that I feel the need to publicly shame myself). We quickly went from 2 up to 3/2 down before the ever dependable Lucas Whitehouse put another deflated opponent in a body bag with a 5&3 pumping. Then it all came down to Sam “Thornky” Thornley playing in the number 1 position for the first time and up against an opponent with a lower handicap. The challenge didn’t phase Thornky though who emerged through the tunnel connecting 15 green to 16 tee 2 up with 3 to play and the rain bucketing down. Thornky’s opponent tee’d off first on the difficult par 3 and found a greenside bunker before the man of the moment stepped up and flushed a 7 iron to 9 feet pin high left of the flag, won the hole, won the match 3&2 and most importantly secured the team the match 4/3. Much to our surprise and delight, our arch rivals The Vines could only manage a half against Sun City which puts Hartfield a point ahead of them at the top of the table and 3 points ahead of Mosman Park. A win next week at Chequers will secure us a spot in the final and the chance to defend our flag from last year.
