Division Six

Division Seven North

Div7 North travelled out to The Vines to take on Suncity. Another strong performance from Steve (5&4) backed up by Rob (3&2), Neil (2&1), Nick (1up) and Tim (square) gave us our first win of the season! Unfortunately Colin (5&3) and Reyne (2&1) fought hard but couldn’t get on top.

Division Seven South

Div 7 South defeated Pinjarra 4.5 to 2.5 at Rockingham in round 4. Rob Dube, Chase Cumings, Cookie and Brad Ovens won their matches with ease. Alan Lindsey (having to give 8 shots), half his match with great fight. Michael Hartnell and Tyson Lebrun just fell short but tried hard.  Well done team!

Division Eight

The div 8 men’s pennants team travelled to Wanneroo GC to compete against Sun City 1. Always interesting and entertaining playing against Sun City, with active betting pools on outcomes such as how many minutes before 8am will the first of them crack open a tinny, how many will finish a 6 pack by the turn and how many will be on their 10th can before the match is over.

The team got the job done 5/2 with an impressive 7&6 maiden victory for Thornky (the artist formerly known as Sam Thornley); special thanks to Jeff Ahn for the invaluable lesson he gave Thornky during the week, it worked wonders. Lucas Whitehouse was rock solid in the 1 spot once again and beat a pretty handy 8 handicapper 3&2. Cam Page, Gary Owens and the undefeated Sam “Sammy” Temple all fought out tough 1 up victories. Shout out to Wanneroo GC for presenting a course in terrific order and providing a good feed afterwards.

Division Seven North

Round 3 saw us playing at Lake Karrinyup against Joondalup. For the 3rd week in a row we lost 3&4 again going down by a narrow margin. Steve (7&6), Tim (6&5) and Reyne (2&1) played well giving our largest amount of shots so far. Unfortunately Colin (5&3), Neil (4&3), Lam (2&1) and Nick (1dn) tried hard but just couldn’t get the upper hand. Bring on round 4

Division Seven South

Div 7 south had a narrow loss 4-3 to Kwinana (2) at Pinjarra. All team members again tried their best. Tyson Leburn, Robert Dube and Chase Cumings won their matches.  3 team members who had to give up to 8 shots each were 1 down on the last hole which all had to give 1 shot.

Division Eight

The Div 8 boys travelled to Joondalup to do battle against the Chequers Golf Club on the Quarry and Dunes nines. Despite being 3 matches down, the team stormed back to win the next 4 matches for a close fought 4&3 victory. Cam “MVP” Page, Michael “Larry” Larsson and Sam “Sammy” Temple all maintained their unbeaten records with 5&4, 2&1 and 2&1 wins respectively and in the deciding match, our team No.1 Lucas “Louie lives rent free in my head ”Whitehouse kept his nose in front all match to close out a 3&1 victory.

Division Six

Another solid effort from our Div 6 boys, backing up last week’s win with another W on our home track. Mitch Nash getting us on the board early 4&3 as well as our super-sub and up and coming youngster Bruce Stark securing a 3&2 win, with George Green getting the last win on the board. 3 clutch halves by Marc Sergeant, Ronan Degrussa and Kiel Anthony securing the 4.5 to 2.5 win for Hartfield. Big thanks to Rob & his team for presenting the course in schmick condition, Mel & the bar staff and Sarah for another delicious soup.

Division Seven North

Round 2 has us playing The Vines out at SunCity. Unfortunately again not our day another narrow 3&4 loss. Colin (7&6), Lam (3&2) and Steve (1up) were solid all day but Rob (3&2), Nick (3&2), Tim (3&2) and Reyne (4&2) tried their best but couldn’t get on top.

Division  Seven South

In round 2, Div 7 south unfortunately had a loss of 4.5 to 2.5 to Bunbury at Kwinana. It was a challenging day with a start of tee time being 10 minutes behind schedule and the very slow field pace resulted the entire team taking 3.5 hours to complete 9 holes. Despite having doubt if there was enough daylight to finish all the matches, the team fought hard with very close results.

Alan Lindsey had a great win (5/4). Both Brad Ovens and Michael Hartnell had the exciting finish on the last hole. Thank you to Chase Cumings who came to the course (after his family commitment) to support and encourage the team.

Division Eight

The Div 8 team traveled to Mosman Park Golf Club for a 7:30 start against The Vines GC in a rematch of last year’s final. As was the case in last year’s final, the match ended in a draw. Another standout individual performance from Michael Larsson winning his match 5&4 and Callum Hall bounced back from a loss last week to record his first pennants victory winning 2 up. Myself, Sam Temple and Cam Page all drew their respective matches.

First Week of Men’s Metro Pennants results

First Week of Men’s Metro Pennants results

See the captains’ thoughts and the results below.

Division 2

Good start to the season for our top division side, in what was a very sticky fixture. Superb attitude and application show by all players and caddies. Special mention to Paul Chappell who was on debut for the club in our top division side.

 Division 4 South

Good start to the Div 4 flag defence, boys getting the job done against Rockingham. Great return to the team for Jason Larkin and Sam Lockhart was solid as always.  Josh Nicholas this weeks MVP with a big 5&4 win. Onto Bunbury next week.

Division 5 South

DIV 5 began the season with a 3.5 game each split against Bunbury down at Kwinana on Sunday. All matches came down to the wire on the last hole with Liam Fields coming up clutch. The standout win for that day was Stan Gibbons winning dominantly 6&5.

The boys will look to take full advantage at home this week vs Kwinana.

Division 6 South Central

A great showing for our Div 6 boys in week 1, coming up against last years division winners in Mosman Park. Hartfield took home a 4.5 to 2.5 win with 2 of our players making their pennants debut. Mitch Nash was a standout with a 5&4 win, and special mention to Bruce Stark who took a 6am call and came as reserve due to a golflink issue and got us a half-point with an opposition no-show. Also really great to see the Div 4 boys out early to support our squad. Looking forward to hosting Royal Perth on our track this Sunday!

Division 7 North

Round 1 for Div 7 North saw us playing Lakelands at home, unfortunately we suffered a narrow loss 4&3. Congratulations to Reyne (9&8), Lam (5&4) and Nicholas (3&2) on their wins! Rob (1dn), Colin (2&1), Tim (3&2) and Neil (3&2) went down fighting.

Division 7 South

Div 7 south had a great start of the pennant season with a 5 to 2 win.  I’m very proud of the team! Everyone tried their best & Alan Lindsey had the best winning score of 4/3. The team appreciated Peggy’s preparation of the cards & the energy boosting lolly bags.

Division 8 North

Division 8 Men’s Pennants side got their title defence of to a solid start with a 4/3 win at home against Wanneroo. Our new look team featured 5 new players, 4 of whom represented Hartfield for the first time. Debutant Michael Larsson must have been in a hurry to get to the bar based on his swift 8/7 assassination of his opponent. Shortly after Lars headed back to the clubhouse for a well-earned ale, debutant Cam Page was not far behind him with a dominant 4/3 win to put us 2 up on the match. A couple of close 2/1 loses followed to level the contest before another debutant, the big hitting Sam “Sammy” Temple wrapped up his match on the 2ndlast hole to record a 3/1 victory. Around the same time Sam’s match concluded, div 8’s big gun and returning star from last season Lucas Whitehouse put an end to the contest with an impressive 6/5 victory.

Huge thanks to Robert Williams and his team for presenting such a fantastic golf course on the day; the greens were fast and pure, the bunkered rakes and we all received lots of compliments from the visiting teams. Big thanks also to Sarah and her team for the delicious and plentiful spread that was provided at lunch, it received rave reviews and puts the pressure on the other clubs to step up their offering.
