Club Closing Day was held on Saturday, November 29th, and it turned out to be a fantastic event. We had a strong field of 204 players take part in the Split 6’s round, creating a great atmosphere on the course.
The standout performers on the day were the team of Gavin Doull, Tai Tairea (Busselton GC), Sam Temple, and Jeff Mine (Busselton GC), who finished with an impressive 92 points. Their excellent play earned them first place and a $75 voucher each.
In second place, with a very solid score of 89 points, were Paul Myhill, Keith Heales, David Robertson, and Trevor Kinnane. They each took home a $50 voucher for their efforts.
A big thank-you to Rob Dube and W.R.T.I.E. Solutions for sponsoring the day.
We finally got our Club Championships for 2025 over the line! Huge congratulations to our new champion Andrew Crabb. Andrew played some fantastic golf and ran out a truly worthy winner. Our B grade champion was won by our very own Juniors coordinator Steve Vicary and our C grade champion was won by our finance director Andrew Ford. A big congratulations to our Champions and all the competitors for a great event.
The Hartfield Open was a success and some fantastic golf was played over the two days. This year we moved the event to a PM field which worked well. A big thank you to Chris Holmes and Shane Ward and the team of volunteers, who assisted as starters and spotters to keep the field moving. Our New Open winner was the young and very capable Spencer Harrison who recently played alongside Marc Leishman in the WA open. Spencer played some superb golf and finished -7 after the two days.
· Our Anzac fundraising day earlier this year raised over $1000 dollars for Veterans. We would like to put a Heartfelt thank you to Jeanette Champion who worked tirelessly on creating a beautiful quilt which was auctioned off. The monies raised at the event were donated to the Kalamunda RSL to support a commemorative gate (see photographs below – Wayne Loughrey – President Kalamunda RSL)
Earlier in the Year Lady member Jeanette Champion approached me about running a “Remembrance Sunday” competition as another fundraiser for Veterans. I thought this was a great idea and we have just played the first inaugral 2 ball ambrose competition. This will now be set in the calendar for November in subsequent years (post-coring). I will let you know how much money was raised and which local veterans charity we will be supporting in my newsletter in January 2026.
We have had a few members ask about some specific golf rulings. This has raised a few talking points during the match committee meetings. To that end, I will work with our Club Professional Rob Nuttall and introduce some key rules, which I’ll post in my newsletters…Stay tuned.
The Greenkeepers Revenge which unfortunately had to be cancelled last year, is back on the Calendar. Get your teams ready and book in early to avoid disappointment.
The Clocks are out there! I’m sure you have all seen the pace of play clocks out on the course and I’m sure it’s caused confusion and a lot of talking to a few!
The pace of play clocks on 5 and 14 Do Notdisplay the actual time. The clock that is marked 1st Tee on 5 & 14 is relevant to the groups who started on the 1st Tee and the clocks marked 10th tee on 5 & 14 are for the groups who started on the 10th tee.
Each checkpoint displays an “ideal time” that you should be passing the check point.
For example if you Tee off at 7am off the 1st tee, when you arrive at the 5th hole (first checkpoint) the clock indicating 1st tee should be displaying your tee time (7am) when you arrive at the 14th Tee the next checkpoint , once again the clock indicating 1st tee should be displaying your tee time (7am)
The clocks run independently of the real time and this is simply a visual guide for the field and the marshallers during competition.
No mental math is required, the clock should display your tee time. If it is earlier than your tee time then you are faster than average, if it is later then you are slower than the average predicted pace.
The clocks on the 1st and 10th are to ensure you Tee off on time.
We have had a quite a few instances of near misses and unfortunately some members have been hit with wayward golf balls. Can I remind you all of your duty of care to our fellow members. If you hit a stray ball and will not see it’s landing point, then you MUST call fore at a minimum. Nobody means to hit a stray ball, but more importantly NOBODY wants to get hit by a stray ball.
Finally we will be hosting a members Dinner on the 13th of December to celebrate our champions and pennant players. Bookings are now available and numbers are limited, so book early to avoid disappointment.
Important Safety Reminder – Defibrillator Locations at Hartfield
As the days heat up, remember to stay hydrated and follow the SunSmart rules. In the event of an emergency, Hartfield has two defibrillators on site:
Green Shed – Access is through the personal entry, then to your left. Please note: This defibrillator is only available during green staff working hours.
Clubhouse – Located outside reception, directly across from the women’s locker rooms.
Stay safe this summer, and take care out on the course!
