Important Notice to Members

Important Notice to Members

Attention members,

As we’re growing substantially as a club, there’s a few housekeeping items that we need to remind ourselves about in order to ensure people aren’t missing out on a game and the competitions can be run smoothly.

NOT ABLE TO MAKE TEE TIME

If you’re unable to make your tee time on the day, it’s imperative that you call the Pro Shop on 9453 9194 and advise the staff accordingly. Failure to do so can result in other members potentially missing out on a game.

ARRIVING ON TIME FOR YOUR ROUND

When playing competitions at Hartfield CC, you’re expected to arrive well in advance for your tee time. You should be ready at your relevant starting tee box at least 10 mins prior to the specified time. This is to ensure our competition fields can commence as smoothly as possible, preventing any unnecessary delays.

We sincerely appreciate your co-operation regarding these matters, allowing you to help us help you.

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE MAGPIES

PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE MAGPIES

Wildlife carers from Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre in Lesmurdie have requested that we do not feed our magpies, as it is doing more harm than good. While we may have the best intentions it leads to many health & behavioural problems for the birds. It also often leads to the death of young magpies from metabolic bone disease, caused by them eating & their parents feeding them the wrong types of food. This disease leads to deformed beaks & bones, making it very difficult for the young birds to stand & fly. A young, deformed bird from Hillview golf course was recently taken to Kanyana & had to be euthanased as its condition was so bad.

Bread, mince & cheese in particular and too much of any type of food e.g. raw oats are all no-nos, according to Dr Deborah Monks, a Brisbane bird vet. This is reinforced by Murdoch University’s Healthy Wildlife, Healthy Lives website, which discourages feeding saying it leads to “nutritional imbalances, increased risk of disease & disruption in natural animal behaviour”.

Behavioural changes include creating a dependency on your feeding, rather than the birds foraging naturally for grubs & insects & eating dead animals. It also makes them more aggressive, demanding that we feed them. They are already finding plenty of food on our well-vegetated course.

So please, while you may feel good about feeding the magpies and think you are helping nature, it is actually having a very detrimental affect on their welfare.
Also please be aware that feeding wildlife is now illegal in WA, to protect their health and ecology.

WEB UPGRADE

WEB UPGRADE

Over the next six months we will be upgrading our web and mobile web page.

In doing this task we ask members if they have any photography/history of the club over the years that could be digitalised and used by the club for the new web page.

We have a bit from our 50th celebrations but it would be great if we have more and then we can store on the web for members and guests to review.

Please let Damian or Vicki know via email on membership@hartfieldgolf.com.au or admin@hartfieldgolf.com.au
